Fall Sober Fun near Panama City Beach

Thursday, September 21, 2017 | By JP Emerald Coast

If you’re in recovery, you’re always seeking out new ways to have fun in an environment that is conducive to a new sober you. There is so much to enjoy about fall in Panama City Beach. The summer-time crowds have dwindled, scorching 90-degree days have turned into milder breezy days. From a peaceful walk on the white-sandy beaches to swimming with dolphins, there are so many ways to enjoy sober fun in the fall.

Sober Fun in Nature

For a scenic walk, bird watching or camping consider St. Andrews State Park. It’s a great place to fish the day away on one of two fishing piers, a jetty, and for boat owners, there’s a boat ramp. For more wildlife observation, the park also offers two nature trails. Nearby Shell Island is also a popular destination for a day of spectacular views, walks, snorkeling and of course, there are a plethora of beautiful indigenous seashells all along the seven-mile stretch that are perfect little keepsakes.

For outdoor adventurists looking to find people with that similar spirit, Meetup offers a page for kiteboarding, biking, hiking and more. The Health & Wellness board offers even more ways to stay active with a group of fitness enthusiasts.  Fall is also a great time for paddleboarding.  If you need a lesson or would like to take a paddleboarding tour, there are options for that as well.

Interact with Wildlife

Are you an animal lover? Well, you’ll feel right at home at Zoo World where you’ll find all kinds of incredible creatures from sloths, giraffes, lemurs and more. You can sign up for Yoga at the Zoo for an even deeper connection with wildlife. It’s a bit pricey but if you have an opportunity to swim with dolphins, it’s a highlight for tourists and locals alike. Add it to your list of fall adventures for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
