5 Favorite Holiday Mocktails For A Sober Holiday

‘Tis the season for parties, food, and festive drinks! Holiday drinks are typically associated with alcohol, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Mocktails are great for those in recovery, but they’re also becoming a popular choice with those choosing to live a clean, healthy lifestyle for the wellness benefits alone. Alcohol is a known carcinogen, is bad for your heart and liver, and can even weaken your immune system. To celebrate a healthy, sober holiday this season, consider serving up some of these popular holiday mocktails:

Holiday Pomegranate Mojito

Pomegranates are a perfect ingredient for holiday recipes as they’re in season this time of year and they look stunning!  While mojitos themselves tend to be tart and sour, the sweetness of the pomegranate balances things out and adds a pop of festive, holiday red coloring.

Shopping list: Lime, sugar and mint leaves, sparkling water, pomegranate juice

Cherry Bombs

Made with grenadine, Lacroix, and lime juice, this modern take on the cherry bomb cocktail is festive and fun. It’s red, bubbly, and you can load it full of as many maraschino cherries as you want. Serve it in a highball glass for a grown-up feel and garnish the rim with a lime wheel to add a touch of green to complement the Christmasy, cherry red.

Shopping list: Berry LaCroix, grenadine, limes, maraschino cherries

Eggnog Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate and eggnog are both Christmas classics, making them a fun duo to mix. Serving this rich, creamy drink on Christmas morning is a fun tradition to create with your family, friends, or even just yourself. Garnish with a peppermint candy cane for some elf-approved flair.

Shopping list: Milk, bittersweet chocolate chips, eggnog, peppermint sticks

Hot Raspberry Cider

Cider is seen in many a holiday rom-com and has been gracing the department store crystal glasses of many families for decades. Try it yourself this season, but give it an updated twist by adding some raspberry. Heating everything in the pot together couldn’t be simpler. And a bonus? Raspberries are loaded with healthy antioxidants.

Shopping list: Apple cider, thawed frozen raspberry juice concentrate, sugar, cinnamon stick

Pink Grapefruit “Margarita”

You may have noticed that pink everything is “in” right now, so why not serve up a pink grapefruit margarita-inspired mocktail at your party?! This take on the frozen marg blends ice with grapefruit juice for the good kind of winter slush. Mix in some freshly squeezed lime, pomegranate syrup, garnish the rim of the glass with pink sanding sugar and voilà!

Shopping list: Sanding sugar, limes, pomegranate syrup or grenadine, pink grapefruit juice, ice
