Alcohol & Drug Testing Services In Florida

In the state of Florida, all it takes is one traffic stop to be convicted of Driving Under the Influence. State law proves impairment by testing “normal faculties” or breath alcohol level of 0.08 or above. The minimum fine for a first conviction is $500, and with subsequent convictions, the fines rise steadily. In addition to the financial penalty for DUI conviction, the guilty party must also perform 50 hours of community service and submit to a period of probation for 1 year. Vehicle impoundment is another possibility, even with a first offense. Subsequent DUI convictions can end in mandatory residential substance abuse treatment and/or jail.

If you require drug testing that meets Florida standards, JourneyPure Emerald Coast can help. In addition to drug testing our clients and ensuring a drug-free workplace among our employees, JourneyPure Emerald Coast offers the local community drug testing and alcohol screening services.

An Accurate Drug Testing Service for Every Need

Our alcohol and drug testing is highly accurate, and we provide signed documentation of results. We can even fax results directly to probation offices or other monitoring agencies as needed. The cost of this service is affordable, but varies depending on the particular services required. Many insurance policies may, in some cases, cover testing.

Drug Testing Services Offered

We use the following methods for our screening:

2_1-12panel12-Panel Urine Drug Screen. This highly sensitive drug test provides fast and accurate results. It tests for cocaine, marijuana, opiates (including heroin and painkillers), amphetamines, methamphetamines, PCP, benzodiazepines (including Xanax), barbiturates, methadone, oxycodone, ecstasy and propoxyphene (Darvon). Please note that this test may not work for every drug, including bath salts and synthetic marijuana, as their active ingredients may not yet be identified as illegal.

2_2-bacBreathalyzer for blood alcohol content (BAC). The breathalyzer is widely used by law enforcement and consumers to estimate blood alcohol content based on the amount of ethanol present in the breath. It is a reliable technology. The user exhales into the device, which converts alcohol into acetic acid and water. The breathalyzer measures the electrical current produced by the reaction to estimate BAC. Please note that DUI conviction does not depend on breathalyzer results.

2_3-alcoholAlcohol urine screen. Ethanol stays in the urine stream well after a breathalyzer tests at 0.0. Our alcohol urine screen will test positive for alcohol up to three days after drinking. This occurs because it takes the liver several days to metabolize alcohol, even after moderate drinking. Also known as the 80-hour test, this screen is becoming a popular alternative to BAC for individuals living with zero tolerance orders. It is also excellent for verifying BAC test results.

2_4-bloodBlood testing. Blood testing is performed to accurately measure the level of alcohol and/or drugs in the bloodstream. It is important to note that blood testing may produce a positive test result for less time than a urine screen. Blood screens are typically used to test for alcohol, which can show up for up to 10 hours past ingestion. Drugs such as amphetamines, cocaine, benzos, opioids, meth and marijuana can report positive for a few days up to several weeks with heavy use.

2_5-hairHair follicle testing. JourneyPure Emerald Coast offers hair follicle testing, widely considered the most accurate of past abuse tests. The hair follicles hold on to drug and alcohol toxins the longest. Test results can be positive up to 90 days past the last use. It is also the most expensive form of testing. Hair follicle testing can prove cost effective, however, if a positive test result helps return a struggling individual to recovery.

2_6-labLaboratory support and confirmation. If you have already received drug or alcohol screen results but require confirmation of accuracy, call JourneyPure Emerald Coast. Our lab technician can explore your findings and confirm the results, or perform a new test if necessary.

Employee Assistance Programs

Many Florida employers offer workers access to an employee assistance program (EAP) that provides a helping hand when life events occur. EAPs benefit the worker and the employer because evidence demonstrates that healthy, balanced people perform better on the job, enjoy smoother professional relationships and promote a satisfying work environment. Among EAP’s many benefits are outpatient alcohol and drug treatment services. JourneyPure Emerald Coast is proud to partner with EAPs across Florida to offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient support for individuals struggling with addiction, mental health disorders and trauma. Our staff members include trained and certified therapists and counselors with experience in dual diagnosis assessment, individual therapy, group therapy and peer-led counseling.
